Tigers Fall to George Washington to Close Weekend

GW had the only tun of the game through the first three innings, coming in the bottom of the first on a Jenna Cone sacrifice fly. Princeton tied it in the fourth when a Mackenzie Meyer double brought home a leadoff hit-by-pitch to Kaylee Grant, but the Colonials put up six hits and three walks with all but one of the hits coming with two out. Morgan Rinehart had the biggest hit of the inning with a two-RBI double as the Colonials pulled ahead 7-1.
Each team put up two in the fifth, with Princeton using a walk and two hits including an Allison Harvey RBI single as well as a Grant RBI groundout. GW answered to make it 9-3 on a Cone two-run homer in the bottom half.Â
Princeton got one back in the top of the sixth when Mikayla Blaska and Danielle Dockx had back-to-back triples and two back in the top of the seventh when Grant drew a two-out walk that preceded Walsh's two-run home run. The Colonials ended it there, however, taking the 9-6 win.
Allie Reynolds took the loss for Princeton in the circle while Kaitlin Buff threw five innings to get the win for the Colonials before Ashley Pilcher closed it out.
Princeton will head to Florida for its spring trip, an eight-game run that will begin Saturday in Clearwater, Fla.
