Top-50 Battle Goes to William & Mary
March 24, 2018 | Women's Tennis
The doubles point went the way of the Princeton women's tennis team, but William & Mary won the first four singles matches off court on the way to a 5-2 win Saturday at Rice in Houston.
Princeton is ranked 36th nationally by the ITA and 20th by the USTA, while William & Mary is ranked 50th.
William & Mary pulled ahead 3-1 with three straight-set singles-match wins, leaving the matches on courts one, four and five. Princeton needed to win all three, but in a battle between ITA-ranked players, court one went to William & Mary before Clare McKee could get her win on court four to keep Princeton's hopes alive.
The Tigers will conclude the spring trip against Rice at 11 a.m. local time/noon ET. Video and live updates will be available here.
