Princeton No. 15 In CWPA Varsity Poll

PRINCETON, N.J. – After a 6-1 West Coast trip, the Princeton Tigers come in to the Collegiate Water Polo Association Varsity Poll tied at No. 15, the organization announced today.
Princeton went 4-0 at the LMU Invitational, taking down three ranked foes. On Mar. 16, head coach Becca Dorst's squad defeated No. 24 California Baptist, 8-6, and No. 23 Marist, 8-7. Haley Wan led the Tigers with three goals against California Baptist while Abbey Blake's tally with 2:53 to go against Marist proved to be the game-winner.
The next day (Mar. 17), the Tigers dropped Fresno Pacific, 18-2, and defeated No. 11 Loyola Marymount, 6-5. Princeton's 18 goals were the most it has had since Feb. 27, 2016 while Eliza Britt's goal with 4:31 remaining gave the Tigers their first victory over Loyola Marymount since 2015. The Tigers also dropped No. 20 San Diego State (10-4) and Concordia (14-9) before finishing the California trip with 17-4 loss to No. 3 USC.
Stanford remains the top team in the poll, followed by Cal., USC, UCLA and Hawaii. No. 9 Michigan sits as the top squad in the CWPA.
Wan leads the Tigers in goals (41), points (74) and steals (36). The senior became one of six players in program history to reach the 200 career goal milestone in the loss to USC. She has recorded at least 40 goals in each of the past three seasons and is a two-time All-American.
Lindsey Kelleher (33), Chelsea Johnson (29), Amy Castellano (27) and Eliza Britt (20) have also posted at least 20 tallies. Nine different players have recorded at least 10 steals. Marissa Webb is a two-time CWPA Defensive Player of the Week and sits with a 12-7 record along with a .625 save percentage.
After a week break, Princeton gets into Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) action on Apr. 7 vs. No. 13 Indiana (2 p.m.) and St. Francis (5:45 p.m.).
