Six Tiger alums competed across three teams at the USA Basketball 3-on-3 National Championships held April 21-22 in Colorado Springs, Colo.
The Ariel Slow & Steady team, which includes Dan Mavraides '11, Kareem Maddox '11 and former Princeton men's Director of Basketball Operations Craig Moore as well Brown alum Damon Huffman defended its title from a year ago when Mavraides, Maddox, Moore and Lehigh alum Zahir Carrington were on the team.Â
The team went 5-0 in pool play and then won all three of its bracket games, never allowing more than 17 points in any of the eight 21-point games.Â
Mack Darrow '13 and Jimmy Sherburne '14 were on the Ariel Turtles team with Purdue alum Robbie Hummel and Northwestern alum Jitim Young. That team won its pool at 4-1 and made the semifinals, losing to the 3Ball Minnesota team that the Ariel Slow & Steady team defeated in the final.Â
On the women's side, Megan Bowen '13 and and Annie Tarakchian '16 were on the Ariel team with a pair of Dartmouth alums, Lakin Roland and Nicola Zimmer. That team went 4-1 in its pool before falling in the quarterfinals.
All three teams were sponsored by Ariel Investments, which is headed by Princeton basketball alum John Rogers '80. The Ariel Slow & Steady team will compete at the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Mexico City Masters event Sept. 8-9.Â
