Princeton to Face Pair of Top-50 Opponents as Ivy Season Continues

A pair of top-50 opponents are ahead for the Princeton men's tennis team when the Tigers host Cornell Friday at 2 p.m. at the Lenz Tennis Center and visit Columbia Sunday at 1 p.m.

The Big Red are ranked 47th nationally by the ITA and enter the weekend at 7-7 with Princeton as its Ivy League opener. The Tigers and Big Red met on Feb. 18 in the ECAC third-place match, which Princeton won 4-3 after Cornell had won the last three meetings between the teams.
Columbia is ranked No. 15 by the ITA, 18th by the USTA and counts Victor Pham as the No. 15-ranked singles player in the nation, Jackie Tang at No. 42, Pham and Tang as the No. 15 doubles team and Jack Lin and William Matheson at No. 40. Sunday's match will be on the Ivy League Network.
The Lions are 11-3 heading into their first Ivy match at Penn Friday and have won the last eight against the Tigers since a 2011 Princeton home win. Princeton's last win at Columbia was in 2002, and the Lions have won the last eight between the teams in Manhattan.
Princeton stands 15-8 overall and 0-1 in the Ivy after last weekend's loss at Penn. Senior Luke Gamble and sophomore Davey Roberts co-lead the Tigers with 12 dual-match singles wins, and Holden and rookie Ryan Seggerman are 14-5 in doubles duals.
Following the weekend, Princeton will host its final regular-season home weekend with Yale and Brown coming to town April 14-15.
