Season Recap: Princeton Finishes 11th in Final Varsity Poll, Reaches CWPA Title Game

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton Tigers finished No. 11 in the final Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Varsity Poll, the conference announced today.
USC earned the top spot after winning the NCAA crown over Stanford, 5-4, on Sunday. Cal., UCLA and Arizona State rounded out the top five. Michigan was the top CWPA squad, placing ninth.

Signature Wins:
Mar. 3 – Princeton defeated the No. 15 Wagner Seahawks, 9-7, at the Crimson Invitational. The Tigers got hat tricks from Chelsea Johnson and Haley Wan along with a 14-save performance from Marissa Webb. It was the team's first win over a nationally ranked squad.
Mar. 11 – Eliza Britt's game-winning goal with 4:31 to go gave the Tigers a 6-5 victory over No. 11 Loyola Marymount. It extended Princeton's win streak to five and was the program's first victory over the Lions since 2015.
Apr. 9 – Johnson's goal with 1:21 left in double overtime pushed Princeton past No. 9 Michigan, 8-7, ended the Wolverines' 20-game winning streak and 24-game CWPA winning streak. It was the Tigers' first win over Michigan since Apr. 11, 2015.

Notes: Princeton reached the 20-win milestone for the sixth time in the last seven seasons … The Tigers won 12 games against ranked opponents and six against schools from California … Wan led the squad with 75 goals, 56 steals and 19 blocks … Her 75 goals and 42 assists this season are the seventh most all-time in a single-season in program history for both categories … The senior graduates with 275 goals (fifth most all-time) and 148 assists (second most all-time) … Kelleher's 47 assists led the squad and are the fourth highest in a single-season … Her 127 career assists are already third most all-time … Amy Castellano had 46 goals and a team-high 57 steals and sprint victories … Five different Tigers scored at least 36 goals … Webb went 22-8 as the team's goalie with 295 saves and a .556 save percentage.
