Highlighting Day 1 of the NCAA East Regional for the Princeton women's track and field team was a personal record set by junior Anna Jurew in the 800. Jurew ran a PR of 2:07.33 with split times of 1.03.08 and 1:04.25. This was her second consecutive year qualifying for the Regional after setting a qualifying run at the Army West Point Twilight Meet two weeks ago.
Freshman Rylie Pease did not advance in her first NCAA experience, taking on the javelin. She started with a 39.39 (129-2) before having her best mark on her second attempt, a 41.60 (136-6). She would not improve on her third attempt hitting 37.93 (124-5). Pease had a PR of 45.19 (148-3) at Ivy Heps as she took second place in the event. She has the second-best mark in program history, just two inches back from the leader.
Senior Kennedy O'Dell took on her first of two events at the Regional, as she competed in the shot put this afternoon. In flight 1, O'Dell started with a 13.94 (45-9) before a foul on her second attempt. She managed a 14.61 (47-11.25) on her final attempt. O'Dell had a PR of 15.29 (50-2) at Ivy Heps to take second place with the third-best throw in program history. Though she will not advance in the shot put she has another chance on Saturday with the hammer throw. That event is slated to begin at 8:45 a.m., with O'Dell in flight 2.
Tomorrow will see Obiageri Amaechi in the discus and Brighie Leach in the steeplechase.
