EYE ON THE TIGERS
Princeton moved up in the national rankings are a 21-8 win over No. 10 Penn and a 22-16 victory over Columbia last weekend and are now No. 15 in the IWLCA poll. With a 10-5 overall record, the Tigers clinched the Ivy League title with a 6-1 mark in the conference. Princeton is also ranked No. 15 in the latest NCAA RPI, released on Tuesday.
The Tigers average 15.07 goals per game (16th best in the NCAA) and take an average of 35 shots per game (7th in the NCAA). They convert on 48.8 percent of their free-positions shots (14th nationally) and clear at a rate of 91.5 percent.
Freshman Kyla Sears leads the offense with 69 points on 53 goals and 16 assists. Sophomore Tess D'Orsi adds 41 points, tallying 30 goals and 11 helpers while junior Elizabeth George has 38 points with 32 coming from goals. Senior Ellie McNulty chips in 31 pints and juniors Kathryn Hallett and junior Allie Rogers both have 20+ points apiece. Freshman Marge Donovan and McNulty combine for 55 percent of the team's draws with 61 and 55, respectively. Junior defender Alex Argo boasts a team-high 18 caused turnovers and 26 ground balls. In goal, freshman Sam Fish is 7-3 with the 10th best save percentage in the nation at .507 save percentage while having a 10.62 goals against average.
THE SERIES
Princeton is 21-0 in the all-time series with Columbia, including a 22-16 last Saturday in the regular-season finale. The largest margin of victory is 18 from an 18-0 win in 2000, the lowest margin of victory being a 5-goal differential in 2016, a 14-9 win.
SCOUTING THE LIONS
Columbia is making its first appearance in the Ivy League Tournament, as the No. 4 seed with a 3-4 league record. Overall the Lions are 6-9 and are led by Ivy League Midfielder of the Year Lindsey Ewertson. She is second on the team in scoring with 41 point son 26 goals and 15 assists and is the team leader in draws with 75, ground balls with 45 and caused turnovers with 37. Victoria Kalamaras has the most points, 55, on 24 goals and a team-high 31 assists. Fallon Quinn has a knack in draws with 40 and adds 32 points. Alexandria Absey is another scoring threat with 35 points, 32 coming by way of goals. In goal Kelsey Gedin is 6-7 with a .432 save percentage and a 14.61 goals against average.
