Princeton Downs New Hampshire To Open Cherry & White Classic

Reigning Ivy League Player of the Year Maggie O'Connell led Princeton with 18 kills, while the middle combo of Clare Lenihan and Nnenna Ibe recorded 11 kills apiece and combined for eight blocks, as the Princeton women's volleyball team opened the 2018 Cherry & White Classic with a 3-1 victory over New Hampshire Friday afternoon inside McGonigle Hall at Temple.

Despite dropping the opening set, Princeton was able to control the majority of play over the final three to clinch its sixth win of the season. While the offense, led by Jessie Harris' 49 digs, hit an efficient .202 for the mach, the defense continually gave its hitter chances with an impressive 96 digs in the victory. Freshman Cameron Dames led the Tigers with 28, while sophomore Alexa Underwood added 23 digs to go along with six kills. Natasha Skov added nine kills of her own in the victory.

Princeton will continue the Cherry & White Classic Saturday when it takes on Big Ten opponent Maryland at 2 pm, and then will face Temple at 7 pm. The Temple match will be live streamed here, while live stats for both matches can be found here.
