Schrage to Compete at Riviera/ITA Women's All-America Saturday
September 28, 2018 | Women's Tennis
For the second time in as many years in her Tiger career, sophomore Stephanie Schrage will compete at the Riviera/ITA Women's All-America Championships in Los Angeles.
Last year, Schrage, a second-team All-Ivy singles honoree as a freshman, competed alongside Nicole Kalhorn in doubles. This time, she is in the prequalifying singles draw and will open against No. 106-ranked Kansas senior Nina Khmelnitckaia Saturday at 3:15 p.m. ET/12:15 p.m. PT. The draw is available here.
Just eight players in the 64-player prequalifying draw will advance to the qualifying draw for the chance to move on to the main draw. Whether a consolation or a 6:45 p.m. ET/3:45 p.m. PT second-round match, Schrage will have two matches Saturday.
Schrage will face either Miami's Lucia Marzal Martinez or Duke's No. 84-ranked Kaitlyn McCarthy in that next match. The rest of Schrage's eighth of the draw includes Rice's No. 105-ranked Linda Huang, George Washington's Maria Siopacha, Pepperdine's No. 104-ranked Dzina Milovanovic, and Oklahoma's Martina Capurro Taborda. McCarthy is the highest-seeded player in the quadrant, having earned the fourth seed in the 64-player draw.
