O'Toole Scores a Goal and an Assist in 2-2 Draw with Dartmouth
September 29, 2018 | Men's Soccer
Sophomore Kevin O'Toole scored the game-tying goal and had an assist on Princeton's first goal as the Tigers opened Ivy League play with a 2-2 draw against Dartmouth on Saturday at Sherrerd Field.
The Big Green took a 2-0 lead before the Tigers rallied.
Dawson McCartney put his team on the board in the 20th minute after a long throw in was headed a couple times in the box before McCartney got the final touch. Matt Pickering pushed his team ahead in the 35th minute when he headed in a ball of a Kota Sakurai set piece that glanced off the left post and into the back of the net.
Less than a minute later Dartmouth netminder Henry Stusnick received a red card after he checked Sean McSherry in the box. He left the game with two saves to his credit, while Chris Palascois came in to the play the final 74:40, while the Big Green played the remainder with nine field players.
Six minutes after checking into just his first game of the season junior Sean McGowan converted up top, getting a right foot on an O'Toole header and sending it into the right corner in the 40th minute.
O'Toole evened things up in the 45th as the Tigers took advantage of a quick transition with O'Toole putting away a long ball from senior Bryan Prudil.
Freshman Moulay Hamza Kanzi Belghiti had a great chance to put his team on top in the 73rd minute, the best of Princeton's 10 shots in the second half, as they outshot the Big Green by eight in the second half.
Junior Gaby Paniagua had a chance in the 92nd that went just wide and two minutes later sophomore defender Richard Wolf made a great defensive block on a Sakurai opportunity in low.
Junior Cole Morokhovich had the fans on their feet in the 107th minute when he got a cross from McSherry on the left side of the field and hit the right post.
Princeton keeper Jacob Schachner made five saves, while Palacios made six in relief.
The Tigers return to action next Saturday, Oct. 6 hosting Brown.
