University Park, Pa. (9/7/18) - The Princeton men's cross country team opened the 2018 season with a tactical race at Penn State's Spiked Shoe Invitational.
The 19-time Ivy League champions ran a pack race on the course that will serve as the site of the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional two months from now. The Tigers are the top-ranked team in the region and are ranked No. 23 in the preseason poll released by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association last week.
All seven Tigers finished in succession with matching times of 27:32, including junior Gannon Willcutts, sophomore Ed Trippas, freshman Jakob Kintzele, junior Conor Lundy, freshman Fahd Nasser, senior Jeremy Spiezio and sophomore Matt Grossman.
"Today was a terrific start to the 2018 season," head coach Jason Vigilante said. "We ran together like a workout and finished with high spirits and ready to take on the season."
