Tigers Earn A Split During Day One Of Princeton Invite

PRINCETON, N.J. – The No. 13 Princeton Tigers split during day one of the Princeton Invitational, falling to the No. 4 Stanford Cardinal, 21-3, but defeating the Santa Clara Broncos, 14-12, at DeNunzio Pool.
No. 4 Stanford 21, No. 13 Princeton 3
The Cardinal showed why they were one of the best teams in the country, running out to an 8-0 lead after the first eight minutes. Michael Swart tallied the first Princeton goal in the second quarter, but Stanford held a 10-1 advantage at halftime and was not threatened.

Santa Clara scored the first two goals and three of the first four tallies, taking a two-goal lead (4-2) into the second quarter. Behind by three goals, the Tigers ripped off four consecutive tallies to take a 7-6 halftime lead. The third frame was tight affair as the two teams tied twice before Alec Mendelsohn's tally with five seconds to go set the score at 10-9. Princeton pushed its lead to two, 12-10, with 5:41 to go, but Santa Clara rallied with two goals over the next 1:41 of game time.
This tally from Wilson would give the Tigers' the lead for good …
