Princeton Ranked Fourth; Connors Wins ECAC Hockey Player of the Week

Princeton is ranked No. 4 in the nation this week - the highest ranking for the Tigers in program history.
Princeton is undefeated in the ECAC Hockey league at 11-0-3, with a 10-point lead over second-place Cornell. The Tigers blanked the Big Red (then ranked No. 4) 5-0 at Lynah on Friday night. After a draw at Colgate (then ranked No. 9) the team expanded its unbeaten streak to 18. It is the longest unbeaten streak in program history and the longest unbeaten streak in the nation this season. Princeton has not lost a game since it lost a pair of games at No. 1 Wisconsin to open the season in October.
The Tigers have the fourth-best scoring offense in the country, averaging 3.70 goals per game, and the fourth best scoring defense at 1.75 gpg. Converting on 25.9 percent of its opportunities, the power play ranks second nationally and has the second-best combined special teams in the nation.
Freshman Maggie Connors was named the ECAC Hockey Player of the Week this weekend, after leading the nation in goals. She scored four times and chipped in two assists as she also had the nation's best points per game. She had the game-winning goal at Cornell and was a +3, and had a hand in six of Princeton's nine goals as the Tigers played two top-10 teams.
Connors is third in the nation in rookie scoring, averaging 1.20 points per game and is 19th overall. She has 14 goals and 10 assists for 24 points in 20 games.
Princeton returns to action after final exams, hosting Penn State on Tuesday, Jan. 29 at Hobey Baker Rink. Admission is free.
