The ITA Kick-Off Weekend tournament at North Carolina will welcome the defending Ivy League champion Princeton women's tennis team Saturday and Sunday as the Tigers will open the spring dual-match season with a 9 a.m. match against Michigan State with a possible test looming against No. 3 North Carolina Sunday.
North Carolina-VCU at noon Saturday will follow Princeton's match, with the consolation match Sunday at 9:30 a.m. and the championship match following at 1 p.m. It will be Princeton's first participation in the ITA Kick-Off Weekend since 2015, when Princeton dropped a pair of 4-3 matches at Alabama against Virginia Tech and Syracuse.

Princeton counts Stephanie Schrage as an ITA-ranked player as she stands 67th in singles, while VCU has Paola Delgado 48th. UNC boasts four ranked singles players including two in the top four in second-ranked Makenna Jones and fourth-ranked Sara Daavettilla along with 18th-ranked Alexa Graham and Cameron Morra, tied for 21st. Morra and Jones are the nation's second-ranked doubles team.
Michigan State split a season-opening trip to Montana last Sunday with a 4-1 loss to Washington State before a 7-0 win over host Montana. VCU is 2-0 after wins last weekend over Drexel, 6-0, and Campbell, 7-0, and UNC is already two weeks into its spring season with wins over Elon and Charlotte and a Wednesday visit set from East Carolina.
Princeton and Michigan State have never met in a women's tennis team competition, while VCU has won five of the six all-time meetings, including the last meeting in 2011, and UNC has won six of the nine all-time meetings, including the last meeting in 2008.
Along with last year's perfect run through the Ivy League and a 4-3 loss to No. 19 Illinois in the first round of the NCAA tournament at Texas Tech, Princeton returns two players with All-Ivy honors in their career, which Schrage a second-team All-Ivy singles honoree last year and Nicole Kalhorn a first-team All-Ivy doubles honoree two years ago.
Following the North Carolina trip, Princeton will head to California for three Bay Area matches, at Santa Clara, Stanford and San Francisco next week.
