Princeton Disposes Of Brown, 3-1

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton Tigers rebounded after dropping the third set to defeat the Brown Bears, 3-1, at Dillon Gym on Saturday evening.
The Bears rolled off the first five points of the game before the Tigers rallied to tie the meeting at 8-all. Princeton found itself trailing, 17-14, but recorded five straight to jump ahead, 19-17. Brown got within one at 21-20, but the home unit ran off four of the next five to earn the first set, 25-21.
A 5-0 run in the second stanza pushed Princeton ahead, 8-5. An eight-point outburst extended the Tigers' advantage to nine (16-7) and head coach Sabrina King's squad wasn't threatened the rest of the frame, collecting a 25-15 decision.
Set three saw the Bears record nine of the first 13 tallies, forcing the Tigers to call timeout. Princeton couldn't really break through, fighting valiantly with saving three set points before dropping a 25-18 score.
Tied at 4-all, Princeton corralled six consecutive tallies to go in front, 10-4, in the fourth stanza. Holding Brown at bay, another four-point spurt improved the Tigers' lead to nine, 20-11. An attack error by the Bears gave Princeton a four-set victory (25-16).
Natasha Skov paced the Tigers with 20 kills while Olivia Schewe had a .455 hitting percentage in 11 attempts. Jessie Harris had 36 assists in the win.
Princeton improves to 7-6 overall and 3-1 in the Ivy League while Brown dropped to 9-6 and 1-4 in the conference. The Tigers welcome the Yale Bulldogs to Dillon tomorrow in a match that will be featured on ESPNU (1 p.m.).
