2019 Head of Charles Opens Fall Season For Princeton Rowing

Nine boats – featuring all the Princeton rowing teams – will participate in the prestigious Head of Charles Regatta this weekend in Boston.
The 2019 Head of Charles begins the fall campaign for the Tigers before the Princeton Chase next weekend at Lake Carnegie.
There will be eight alumni/alumna boats taking part in the event on Saturday before the collegiate events get underway on Sunday.
The men's heavyweight squad opens Sunday's competition (1:45 p.m.) with a 4+ boat. Head coach Greg Hughes team is coming off a fifth-place finish in the Ten Eyck Team Trophy standings for the second straight year at the IRA Championships highlighted by three boats placing in the top five.
The women's rowing team gets its racing starting at 1:57 p.m. (4+). Lori Dauphiny's group finished off the 2019 season with a seventh place showing at the NCAA Championships, improving on its rank from the year prior. The Class of 2019 wrapped up its time at Princeton with four NCAA top-tens and Ivy League titles. The Tigers will also race in the 8+ competition at 2:49 p.m.
Paul Rassam's team has a 4+ boat going off at 1:57 p.m. Rassam's 2019 campaign was a banner one for the program. The Tigers won their first Eastern Sprints gold and first silver medal at the IRA Championships since 2011. This unit also has an 8+ race at 2:49 p.m.
Head coach Marty Crotty's lightweight squad gets underway at 2:15 p.m. on Sunday in the 8+ event with two boats. That Tigers' group lost to just one team in the 2019 regular season before placing fourth at Eastern and nabbing a silver medal at IRAs. Hughes' unit also has two 8+ boats racing at the same time.
