Wolf and O'Toole Score in Princeton's 2-1 Win over Columbia
October 19, 2019 | Men's Soccer
Junior defender Richard Wolf scored his first career goal and reigning Ivy League Player of the Year Kevin O'Toole net the game-winning goal as Princeton defeated Columbia 2-1 on Saturday afternoon on Myslik Field at Roberts Stadium.
Senior Danny Hampton continued his point scoring streak, now standing at three games, when he helped the Tigers take the lead on yet another free kick. Hampton has scored twice on restarts the last two games, but this time set up teammate Wolf for the tally. Wolf had a perfect header to send the ball past keeper Michael Collodi in the 27th.
O'Toole had a solo effort on the second goal as he stripped Collodi of the ball about 25 yards out and had a clear run and shot on the goal.
The Lions were able to break the clean sheet with a goal in the 79th when Uri Zeitz put one through traffic on a pass from Sebastian Gunbeyi.
Jacob Schachner tied his career high with seven saves in the win and had an incredible effort in the 85th minute to keep the Tigers in the lead.
Princeton (8-3-1, 1-1-1) takes on Harvard next Saturday, Oct. 26 at noon in Boston as Ivy League play resumes.
