Kevin Davidson To Play In East-West Shrine Bowl
November 13, 2019 | Football
Kevin Davidson has certainly made a big impression in his one season as the Princeton starting quarterback.
Â
Davidson has received an invitation to compete at the East-West Shrine Bowl, a senior all-star game that will be held in St. Petersburg, Fla., on Jan. 18 and will be televised on the NFL Network. The game, which dates to 1925, has been a springboard to the NFL for hundreds of players through the year.
Â
"This is a great opportunity for Kevin," says Princeton head coach Bob Surace. "His performance this year has definitely caught the attention of NFL scouts, and the chance to play in the East-West Shrine Bowl confirms that. I'm very happy for him to be able to go there and compete all week and represent Princeton football on that stage. He's been very impressive all season on the field and off."
Â
Davidson will be the third player to play for Surace who will be playing in the East-West Shrine Bowl, along with future NFL players Mike Catapano (2014 game) and Jesper Horsted (last year's game). Caraun Reid, who also played in the NFL, played in the Senior Bowl after his senior year.
Â
The 6-4, 225-pound Davidson has completed 175 of 255 for 2,250 yards and 20 touchdowns this season, and his career numbers are 212 for 316, 2,674 yards and 25 touchdowns. His completion percentage of 67.1 is the best of any Princeton player ever with at least 250 passing attempts, and he is one of four Princeton quarterbacks to reach 20 touchdown passes in a season. He's also the only player in program history with at least two games with at least five touchdown passes, and the seven TD passes he threw against Bucknell are the Ivy League single-game record.
Â
Princeton will host Yale Saturday at 1 on Powers Field in the 142nd meeting between the teams.
