No. 18 Princeton Defeats MIT, But Falls To No. 9 Harvard

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The No. 18 Princeton Tigers earned a split, defeating the MIT Engineers, 16-9, before a loss to No. 9 Harvard, 10-6 on Sunday.
No. 18 Princeton 16, MIT 9
The Tigers started quickly with the first four goals and ran out a 5-2 lead after eight minutes. The stoppage didn't slow down Princeton's offense as it jumped out with three more tallies to start the second frame, holding an 8-2 advantage. Head coach Dustin Litvak's group took a 10-3 lead into halftime.
Princeton was not challenged the rest of the way, leading by as many as nine in the second half before taking a 16-9 victory.

The Crimson snagged two more goals and led 6-2 at the 6:20 mark of the third stanza. Princeton scored the final two tallies of the frame and cut its deficit to two, 7-5.

The Tigers could not add on as Harvard finished off the game with three consecutive goals and took the contest, 10-6.
Princeton now sits at 13-14 overall and 5-3 in the Northeast Water Polo Conference. The Tigers finish the regular season with two home contests vs. Iona (12 p.m.) and No. 16 St. Francis-Brooklyn (6 p.m.) next Saturday (Nov. 9).
