Women’s Volleyball to Face Penn State in First Round of NCAA Tournament

INDIANAPOLIS – The Princeton University women's volleyball team will take on the No. 11-seeded Pennsylvania State University on Friday, December 6 inside Rec Hall in University Park, Pennsylvania, in the opening round of the NCAA Championships, as announced Sunday night during the selection show.
The Tigers finished with a 17-7 overall record and a 10-2 record in conference play. Princeton earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships after defeating Yale University 3-1 (25-23, 21-25, 26-24, 25-15) on Friday, November 22 inside Dillon Gymnasium. The Tigers and Bulldogs both earned a share of the Ivy League title and were forced to take part in a one-match playoff to determine the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Championships.
The trip to the championships will be the eighth in program for Princeton with its most recent occurring in 2017.
Penn State have a 24-5 record and went 10-3 in Big Ten play. The Nittany Lions finished in a tie for second place in the Big Ten with the University of Minnesota and the University of Nebraska while they also garnered the No. 11 seed for the championships. Penn State will play in the NCAA Championships for the 39thconsecutive season.
Should Princeton win, it will take on the winner of Towson University (28-2, 16-0) and American University (24-7, 15-1) on Saturday, December 6 inside Rec Hall.
