2020 Princeton Heavyweight Schedule
PRINCETON, N.J. - The 2020 men's heavyweight rowing schedule has been announced, head coach Greg Hughes released today.
"It's always exciting to take on the top teams in the country in preparation for Eastern Sprints and the IRA Championships," said Hughes. The regular season will provide great tests for us as we look to earn medals in the postseason."
The season gets underway at Lake Carnegie on Mar. 28 with Georgetown, George Washington and St. Joseph's. The following week, the Tigers head to Annapolis to battle Navy (Apr. 4) and retain the Navy-Princeton Cup. The Childs Cup takes place on the Schuylkill River with Columbia and Penn on Apr. 11. Princeton makes the trip to Harvard for the Compton Cup on Apr. 18 before the Carnegie Cup is at Lake Carnegie the week after (Apr. 25) with Cornell and the defending National Champion Yale.
The regular season finale features Brown and the Content Cup, a trophy that Princeton regained last year with an impressive 3.4-second victory.
Eastern Sprints are May 17th in Worcester, Mass., before the IRA National Championships at Mercer Park to wrap up the month of May.
The Heavies are coming off a stellar 2019 spring season where they were fifth in the Ten Eyck Team Trophy standings for the second straight year at the IRA National Championship. The group had three boats place in the top-five. Some of other signature moments include regaining the Content Cup over No. 5 Brown along with Childs and Navy-Princeton Rowing Cups victories.
