Morey to Coach Hockey Canada in Rivalry Series
February 12, 2019 | Women's Ice Hockey
Princeton women's hockey head coach Cara Morey will be one of the assistant coaches for Hockey Canada in the Rivalry Series this week.
The series kicks off on Tuesday, Feb. 12 at 7 p.m., at Budweiser Gardens in London, Ont. The second game will be on Thursday, Feb. 14 at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto at 7 p.m., and the series finale is on Sunday, Feb. 17 at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit.
Fans in the US can watch on the NHL Network, while it will be carried on TSN and RDS in Canada.
"It's always an honor to coach the National team," Morey said. "Growing up in Canada and playing for the program was a dream come true. Now I have the opportunity to continue that dream behind the bench. It's humbling and exciting to work with the best athletes in our game. This is one of the most intense rivalries in any sport and I expect this series will be extremely competitive!"
Morey left on Saturday, following Princeton's 4-2 win over Yale to join the national team. With the Tigers in first place in the ECAC standings, Morey leaves the Tigers in great positioning for this weekend's league games versus Union and Rensselaer.
"It's always hard to leave the Tigers, even for brief stints, but I know they are in great hands with Ashley [Kilstein], Kelly [Nash] and the rest of our staff. We have great leadership and I know the team will continue to excel while I'm away."
