Kelly Wins 2nd Straight Ivy Heps Weight Throw Title; Princeton Third After Day 1 Of Ivy Heps

CAMBRIDGE, Mass- The Princeton men's track and field team currently sits third after day one of the 2019 Ivy Heps.

Brown currently leads the championships with 27 points through four events scored. Harvard is second (26) while Penn (22) is behind Princeton. Columbia (13), Yale (8) and Cornell (5) round out the field.

Adam Kelly won his second consecutive Ivy indoor weight throw title (22.12m). In his four years, he never finished lower than second.

Joey Daniels (7.81) and Christian Brown (8.00) nabbed spots in the 60m hurdles final with the top two times. Daniels' mark ties his career-best and the top run in program history. He's looking for his second straight Ivy indoor title.

Simang'aliso Ndhlovu ran a personal-best 6.75 in the 60m dash pacing the field in the preliminaries. His PR was already third on the all-time list. Greg Sholars also qualified for Sunday's final (6.86), a career-best time that is tied for sixth best ever by a Tiger runner. Sholars also made the 200m final with a 21.88 in his heat today.

Kieran McDermott (1:04.58) had personal-low time in his 500m heat to make qualify for the final. Â

Sam Ellis (4:11.65) and Eli Krahn (4:09.61) sprinted to tomorrow's mile competition. Michael Phillippy (49.70) and Justice Dixon (49.54) advanced to 400m final as did Franklin Aririguzoh (1:54.07) in the 800m and Scott Thompson (2:31.50) in the 1,000m.

Ed Trippas (8:17.94) earned a point for the Tigers in the 3,000m while Viraj Deokar just missed getting points, placing seventh (8:18.30).

Jesse Thibodeau (7.46m) finished third in the long jump, picking up six points for the Tigers. Avriam Shwarzbard (7.33m) and Gilron Tsabkevich (7.33m) contributed points as well with fourth and fifth place finishes.

Andrei Iosivas took home the 60m dash race (7.01) in the heptathlon, secured second in the long jump (6.91) and third in the high jump (1.89). Harry Lord was second in the heptathlon shot put (13.08m). Iosivas currently sits second in total points (3,020) while Lord is fourth (2,755).

The final day of Ivy Heps gets started at 10 a.m. The ESPN+ stream will start at 12:30 p.m.
