Top-15 Opponents Ahead for Softball Team in Arizona

Two top-15 opponents and another close to the top 25 are on the docket for the Princeton softball team this weekend at Arizona State.
The Tigers will face Wisconsin and Arizona State Friday, Texas and Arizona State Saturday, and Wisconsin Sunday. Texas is ranked ninth in the latest USA Today/NFCA Coaches national poll and ASU is ranked 15th. Wisconsin is the fourth team out of the top 25. In the latest ESPN.com/USA Softball poll, Texas is ranked 10th, Arizona State is ranked 17th and Wisconsin is the first team out.

Princeton
Record: 1-3
Season so far: Princeton began the season last weekend at Liberty with an 8-0 win over Wright State before losses to Bucknell, Valparaiso and Liberty.
At the plate: Nine Tigers got hits on the season's opening weekend, including rookie Haley Hoffman homering in her first collegiate at-bat. Fellow rookie Ali Blanchard co-led the team with three hits alongside junior Megan Donahey.
In the circle: Four pitchers saw time last weekend with rookie Blanchard (9.2 IP) and sophomore Allie Reynolds (8.0 IP) throwing the most innings. Reynolds threw the shutout win over Wright State.
Wisconsin
Friday, 11:30 a.m. ET/9:30 a.m. MT; Sunday, 12 p.m. ET/10 a.m. MT
Record: 13-1
Season so far: The Badgers will roll into Tempe on a 10-game winning streak after playing the last three weekends in Texas, North Carolina and Texas again.
At the plate: Wisconsin is hitting .317 as a team with Kayla Konwent leading the way at .462 (18-39, 4 HR).
In the circle: Wisconsin's pitchers have a combined 1.30 ERA. Four pitchers have seen innings, but Haley Hestekin (6-1, 2.19) has thrown a team-high 38 1/3 innings.

At the plate: The Sun Devils are hitting .319 as a team with Skylar McCarty (.465, 20-43) leading the way.
In the circle: ASU's ERA is 3.43 with four pitchers getting innings so far. Samantha Mejia (7-1, 2.70) has thrown 46 2/3 of the team's 94 innings.
Series vs. Princeton: Princeton won the only meeting with ASU, in 2004.
