Princeton Secures Spot In Ivy Tournament With Impressive Second Half Performance vs. Dartmouth

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton Tigers secured a berth in the Ivy League Tournament with an impressive second half performance against the Dartmouth Big Green, earning a 64-47 victory at Jadwin Gym on Friday evening.

Princeton has made the Ivy League Tournament every year since its inception in 2017.

Carlie Littlefield led the squad with 18 points while Bella Alarie secured another double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Alarie was 6-of-7 from the floor, blocked three shots and dished out two assists. The 2018 Ivy League Player of the Year also surpassed 700 career rebounds in the contest, good for ninth all-time. 10 different players scored in the victory.

Princeton shot 9-of-16 in the first quarter (56.2 percent) as it took a 19-13 advantage after 10 minutes. The Tigers led by as many as seven (13-6) and never trailed in that stretch.

Dartmouth sprinted out with 9-of-11 to begin the second stanza, taking a 22-21 advantage at the 4:48 mark. Littlefield sank two at the charity stripe to go back on top. The two teams exchanged leads three times before the Big Green took a 28-27 margin into halftime.

Over the first 15 minutes of the second half, the Tigers shot 57.7 percent from the floor and outscored the Big Green, 37-14.

Princeton finished +11 in rebounding (43-32), dished out 16 assists and blocked seven shots. Ellie Luce had team-high 12 points for the Big Green in the loss.

Head coach Courtney Banghart's squad improved to 17-9 overall and 9-2 in the Ivy League. The Tigers have won seven straight games and 16 of their last 18. Penn also won tonight against Harvard so the conference remains tied at the top between the Quakers (9-2) and Tigers (9-2). Princeton will honor its three seniors, Sydney Jordan, Qalea Ismail and Gabrielle Rush, before the game vs. Harvard tomorrow (5 p.m.).
