No. 14 Princeton Drops Pomona-Pitzer, 13-9, Loses To No. 12 LMU, 10-7

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The No. 14 Princeton Tigers defeated the Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens, 13-9, while falling to the No. 12 Loyola Marymount Lions, 10-7, at the Burns Aquatic Center on Saturday afternoon.

Princeton ran off four straight goals after the Sagehens scored the first tally. In front as the second quarter started, the Tigers put up the first two goals to extend their lead to four and eventually led 8-4 at the break.
The Sagehens opened up the second half with a goal, but the Tigers pushed ahead with three more tallies to stay in front, 11-5. Princeton wasn't threatened the rest of the way and cruised to a 13-9 victory.

The Lions scored the first two tallies before Princeton rebounded with goals from Lindsey Kelleher and Amy Castellano to tie the contest with 52 seconds to go. Alana Evans' shot right before the buzzer set the score at 3-all after eight minutes.
The second quarter featured three ties and three lead changes with Princeton never jumping in front. Larkin's tally with 35 seconds remaining tied the game at 6-all.
Much like the second frame, LMU scored first, but the Tigers countered with a tally from Castellano again. The Lions' Hana Vilanova gave the home unit an 8-7 lead following 24 minutes.
Loyola Marymount closed out the game with a shutout in the final quarter, taking the matchup of two ranked foes with a 10-7 victory.
