Princeton and its two midweek opponents are all scheduled to begin their conference slates this weekend, Stetson in the Atlantic Sun against Jacksonville, UCF in the American against UConn, and Princeton hosting Yale Saturday and Sunday.
The bats have begun to wake up for the Tigers, who endured a 23-inning scoreless streak early in the season but have scored in nine straight games to average 3.8 runs a game over those nine.Â
Princeton began its Florida trip with four games in Clearwater, Fla., against Butler, Buffalo, Towson and North Florida, splitting the four with rookie Ali Blanchard tossing a six-inning no-hitter against Towson. The Tigers hit .301 as a team over the weekend with Megan Donahey (.583, 7-12), Kaylee Grant (.538, 7-13) and Keeley Walsh (.417, 5-12) all above .400.
Stetson enters at 8-16, hitting .257 as a team with Elizabeth Jackson leading the way at .385 (30-78). The Hatters have a 3.62 team ERA with Tori Perkins throwing 83 of the team's 160 2/3 innings with a 1.94 ERA and 7-5 record.
UCF is 19-9 and hitting .274 as a team with Tamesha Glover hitting .372 (29-78) with a team-best 13 extra base hits including three home runs. The Knights have posted just a 1.89 ERA as a team with Breann Vasquez (7-3, 1.37) and Alea White (12-6, 1.69) combining to throw 174 of the team's 185 innings.
Stetson has won three of the four all-time meetings with Princeton, all coming between 2007 and 2014. The teams played three times in 2007, with Princeton winning the first, before meeting again five years ago.
UCF has won four of the five meetings with Princeton in a series that began in 2002. Last season, Princeton and UCF split a doubleheader in Orlando in the teams' last meeting.
Princeton's home games are free admission and will be streamed on ESPN+ with 12:30 starts both for Saturday's doubleheader and Sunday's single game.
