March 19, 2019 | Women's Tennis
Rice and William & Mary will visit campus this weekend as the 49th-ranked Princeton women's tennis team hosts its final matches before the Ivy League season begins.
The matches' location, indoors at Jadwin Gym or outdoors at the Lenz Tennis Center, will be determined by weather. If indoors, matches will be streamed on ESPN3.
Friday at 1 p.m., No. 42 Rice will meet the Tigers (9-4). The Owls are 9-6 and count Michaela Haet as the 95th-ranked singles player and Haet and Linda Huang as the 52nd-ranked doubles team and Priya Niezgoda and Anastasia Smirnova as the 57th-ranked doubles team.
Princeton and Rice have met in each of the last three seasons, giving the Owls a 2-1 lead in the series after winning the last two. Friday's match will be the first between the teams not played on Rice's home courts in Houston.
Sunday at 11 a.m., Princeton will host William & Mary. The Tribe, at 5-9, will meet Rice Saturday at 1 p.m. at Princeton. William & Mary has won six of the 10 meetings, and last year's match, a 5-2 Tribe win at Rice, was the teams' first since 2011.
The Tigers will begin Ivy League play next Saturday, March 30, at Penn.
