Castellano Collects Four Goals as Princeton Holds Concordia, 8-7

IRVINE, Calif. – The No. 14 Princeton Tigers held off a late Concordia Eagles rally, earning an 8-7 victory at the William Woollett Jr., Aquatics Center on Wednesday afternoon.
Concordia registered the only two goals of the fourth quarter, getting the game with 6:51 remaining. The Eagles could only manage two shots on the cage in the rest of the contest as Princeton took home the decision.
Amy Castellano had four goals, giving her seven 4+ goal performances this season. She also added five steals and an assist. Lindsey Kelleher scored twice while Isabel Zaller had nine saves in the win.
After the home squad snagged the first tally of the contest, Kelleher and Castellano put Princeton back in front, 2-1. The Tigers took that lead into the second frame before running off three straight goals to extend its lead to four, 5-1. The Eagles kept within striking distance, cutting their deficit to two, 5-3, at halftime.
Princeton pushed its margin back to four as the second half got underway, but a late third quarter from Concordia set the non-conference affair as the final eight minutes started.
Princeton improved to 15-6 overall with its second consecutive victory. The Tigers finish off the West Coast Trip with a battle vs. No. 14 Long Beach State tomorrow (Mar. 20). The game will get underway at 10 p.m. EST.
