Men's Tennis Team to Host Saturday Twinbill
March 05, 2019 | Men's Tennis
As the spring trip to California approaches and Ivy play is quick to follow, the Princeton men's tennis team will host its final pre-Ivy home matches Saturday with a 10 a.m. match against Buffalo and a 3 p.m. match against Bryant.
The matches will be streamed on ESPN3 and live results will be available here.
A winner of five in a row, Princeton stands at 13-4 on the season and counts two ITA-ranked doubles teams in 23rd-ranked Damian Rodriguez and Ryan Seggerman and 64th-ranked Justin Barki and Bill Duo.
Princeton and Buffalo have met annually since 2012 with Princeton winning all seven matches. Last year's match, held at Army West Point, was the third 4-3 match in series history. Buffalo stands at 4-4 heading into a noon Friday match against Bryant, which will also take place in Jadwin Gym. The Bulls have a 4-3 win over a Harvard team that defeated Princeton 4-2 at the ECAC Championship last month and a 6-1 loss to Penn State, which Princeton beat 5-2 the week before the ECAC tournament.
Bryant is 10-7 heading into a Thursday trip to Sacred Heart. The Bulldogs and Tigers have already faced three of the same teams this season, with Bryant falling 4-0 to Dartmouth in January and defeating Army West Point 4-1 and NJIT 5-2 on back-to-back days last month. Princeton lost to Dartmouth in an ECAC consolation match 4-0 last month, beat Army West Point 7-0 in January and beat NJIT 7-0 last weekend. The Bulldogs count Matt Kuhar and Wilson Dong as the 27th-ranked doubles team in the nation. Princeton and Bryant have met once, a 6-1 Tiger win two years ago in Jadwin.
Princeton's last remaining competition before the Ivy League season begins will take place March 22-24 at the University of San Diego with a three-day event for which the bracket has yet to be announced. Ivy play will begin March 30 at home against Penn.
