March 05, 2019 | Women's Ice Hockey
Sarah Fillier has been named a finalist for the ECAC Hockey Player of the Year award. She is now a finalist for three major awards in the league, along with Best Forward and Rookie of the Year.
Fillier leads the nation in scoring with 2.00 points per game and is also the leader in assists per game with 1.26 apg. She is fifth in Division I in goals per game averaging 0.74 gpg. Fillier has scored 54 points on 20 goals and 34 assists. She did that, even more impressively, while missing four games to compete for Hockey Canada at the Four Nations Cup.
A two-time Hockey Commissioner's Association Rookie of the Month, Fillier was also a two-time ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Month and earned four ECAC Hockey weekly honors including this week's Player of the Week. A Patty Kazamaier top-10 finalist, Fillier was named the NCAA First Star of the Week on January 8 and again today after a six-point weekend that included a natural hat trick.
Fillier has had a six-game goal-scoring streak of nine points and a nine-game point scoring streak totaling 23 points. She has had a point in 22 of 27 games this season and has had 18 multiple-point games.
Other finalists for Player of the Year include Jessie Eldridge (Colgate) and Loren Gabel (Clarkson). The winner will be announced Friday at the ECAC Hockey championship banquet.
Princeton faces Cornell in the ECAC Hockey semifinals on Saturday. Game time is at 1 p.m., at Lynah Rink.
