Fillier Named Ivy League Player and Rookie of the Year

Princeton's Sarah Fillier has been named both the Ivy League Player and Rookie of the Year for the 2018-19 season and was selected unanimously for both awards. Fillier makes Ivy League history as the only player to ever earn both awards the same year.
She along with freshman Maggie Connors and junior Claire Thompson earn first-team honors, while junior Carly Bullock and senior Stephanie Sucharda are second-team honorees and Rachel McQuigge is honorable mention.
Fillier leads the nation in scoring with 2.00 points per game and is also the leader in assists per game with 1.26 apg. She is fifth in Division I in goals per game averaging 0.74 gpg. Fillier has scored 54 points on 20 goals and 34 assists in her first year as a Tiger. A Patty Kazmaier top-10 candidate, Fillier led the Ivy League in scoring with 23 points (7 goals, 16 assists) in eight games - missing two for the Four Nations Cup.
Connors is 10th in the country in points per game, averaging 1.32 ppg. She is second in the country in goals, with 26 in 31 games and is first in power-play goals with 10. Connors is second on the team in scoring with 26 goals and 16 assists for 42 points. Twenty of those points came in the Ivy League as she scored 14 goals and six assist to averaging 2.00 points per game in the league.
Thompson is fifth in the nation in defenseman scoring, average 0.87 points pe game. She is fourth on the team in scoring overall with 27 points on eight goals and 19 assists. Four of her eight goals were game-winning goals. In the Ivy League, Thompson totaled 11 points with three goals and eight assists, the top scoring defenseman.
Bullock scored 18 of her 41 points in the Ivy League, the third most points in conference play behind Fillier and Connors. Nationally, she ranks 11th in the nation in points per game with 1.32 ppg. This is her second consecutive first-team honor and was an Honorable Mention selection as a freshman.
Sucharda captures her second second-team All-Ivy League honor and finishes her career with four All-Ivy League honors after being an honorable mention pick in 2016 and 2017. Sucharda has three goals and nine assists on the season with four of her 12 points coming during Ivy League play.
McQuigge led the league in all three goaltending statistical categories in her first year as the starter. She had a 1.30 goals against average and a .951 save percentage with 155 saves and eight goals allowed. McQuigge was unbeaten in Ivy play with a 4-0-2 record. Overall she is 10-5-4 with a 1.88 GAA and a .927 save percentage - ranking in the top 15 in the nation in both categories.
Princeton won its eighth Ivy League title this season and first since 2016. The Tigers went 8-0-2 to become the 14th undefeated Ivy League Champion since 1983.
The Tigers face Ivy League opponent Cornell in the ECAC Hockey semifinal game on Saturday. Game time is at 1 p.m., at Lynah Rink.
