Princeton Sends All 10 Wrestlers To EIWA Session II, Including 7 To Quarterfinals; Tigers Stand 2nd

The Princeton wrestling team sent all 10 members of its EIWA lineup to Session II and finished the opening session in second place overall with 23.5 team points. Reigning champion Lehigh holds a slim lead with 24.5 points, while Cornell (23) and Army (18) hold the next two spots in the team race. Those are the only four teams that will have all 10 wrestlers competing tonight.

Princeton will have seven quarterfinalists tonight, including all four members of its freshman class (Patrick Glory, Marshall Keller, Quincy Monday and Travis Stefanik). Top seeds Matthew Kolodzik and Patrick Brucki advanced comfortably, while 10th-seeded Leonard Merkin posted a slight upset in the 165-pound weight class with a 13-8 decision over seventh-seeded Brandon Levesque of Sacred Heart. Kolodzik and Brucki will join both Glory (#2) and Monday (#3) as higher-seeded competitors in the quarterfinals, while Keller, Merkin and Stefanik will be seeking upsets.

Jonathan Gomez, Kevin Parker and Obinna Ajah each needed to take the longer route to Session II, but they made sure it was a worthwhile route for the team race. Each of the three posted pins to advance, including Ajah, who posted his fall within a minute to close an exciting Session I for the team.
