Heptathletes and Throwers Kick Start Miami Invite

Results
The Princeton throwers and heptathletes kick started Day 1 of the Miami Hurricane Alumni Invitational on Friday.
Freshman Emily Wilson took sixth place in the javelin with a 39.54 (129-9). All of her throws were over 34 meters (38.51, 36.25, 35.31, 34.82) with her best coming on her second attempt. She is now ninth Princeton's atop-10 list – the second Tiger to break into the list this year. Sophomore Rylie Pease set the school record in the event in the season opening meet at North Florida with a 48.01.
In the hammer throw, junior Ellen Scott-Young was eighth with a 52.42 (172). It came on her second attempt after she opened with a 44.31. She followed with three fouls before a 37.60 on her sixth attempt. Teammate Luisa Chantler Edmund placed 15th with a 45.24 (148-5).
Three Tigers are competing in the heptathlon. After four events senior Frances Lodge is in fifth place with 2,773 points, sophomore Lindsey Schmidt is in seventh with 2,729 and freshman Kajsa Souter is eighth with 2,715 points.

The next event of the heptathlon is the long jump at 11:30 a.m., to begin Day 2. The Tigers will also be at the Rider Invitational tomorrow.
