One Match Closer, Women's Tennis Team Beats Cornell
April 14, 2019 | Women's Tennis
Playing at home for the first time on the Ivy slate, the Tigers took the doubles point and the first three singles matches to finish to polish off a 4-0 win over Cornell Sunday at the Lenz Tennis Center. The win puts Princeton at 5-0 in the Ivy League and means the Tigers will clinch at least a share of the Ivy League title if they defeat Brown Saturday afternoon. Princeton stands one match ahead of both Yale and Harvard in the Ivy standings heading into the final weekend.
Nicole Kalhorn and Brianna Shvets on court one and Grace Joyce and Clare McKee on court two started the day with doubles wins, giving up just a single game between the two matches. In singles play, Nathalie Rodilosso got it going with a 6-1, 6-0 win at fifth, followed by Grace Joyce allowing just one game in each of her two sets to win on court three. Tiffany Chen then clinched it with a straight-setter on court four.
The Tigers have now won 12 consecutive Ivy League matches and will look to extend that streak and wrap up a claim to the Ivy title Saturday at 1 p.m. against Brown before Yale comes to campus Sunday at 1 p.m.
