No. 6 Michigan Stops Late No. 15 Princeton Rally, 9-6

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The No. 6 Michigan Wolverines held off a late rally from the No. 15 Princeton Tigers, earning a 9-6 victory at Blodgett Pool on Sunday morning.
The Wolverines registered the first two goals of the contest and four of the first five, taking a 4-1 advantage after eight minutes of action. Michigan kept its distance in the second quarter, holding a 6-2 margin at the intermission.
Despite scoring twice in the third frame, Princeton trailed 8-4 as the fourth stanza got started. Tallies from Annie Robinson and Maddie Pendolino closed the Tigers' deficit to two, 8-6, as the clock read 3:18, but a goal from the Wolverines with 92 seconds to go shut down the rally and secured the victory.
Princeton dropped to 17-8 overall and 3-1 in the Collegiate Water Polo Association while Michigan improved to 18-8 this season and 3-0 in the CWPA. Head coach Derek Ellingson's squad wraps up the regular season next weekend (Apr. 13-14) at Bucknell with contests vs. Brown and the host Bison.
