PRINCETON, N.J. – The Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) announced their selections for the 2019 IRA National Championship Regatta (May 31-June 2).
The Princeton men's heavyweight V8 unit will be in lane two of a heat that features California, Dartmouth, Stanford, FIT and Hobart. The 2V8 group is also in lane two for a preliminary with Brown, Cornell, George Washington, Stanford and UC-San Diego. The 3V8 team is in lane one of a heat that also has Syracuse, Brown, George Washington and UC-San Diego. V4 is in lane three and will race Marist, BU, Drexel and Syracuse.
The Tigers secured three medals at the Eastern Sprints last weekend. Princeton finished third in the Rowe Cup standings behind Yale and Harvard and sixth in the Jope Cup.
"Sprints Sunday was a gutsy day for the team," said head coach Greg Hughes. "The entire squad raced hard in challenging conditions and it was great to see the 2V, 3V and 4V come away with a medal. The results showed us that we are right in the mix on all levels and we are all excited for another chance to race at the IRA in a couple of weeks."
The Tigers finished fifth at last year's IRA National Championships.
