May 30, 2019 | Women's Water Polo
PRINCETON, N.J. – Eliza Britt and Amy Castellano were named Honorable Mention All-America by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches, the organization announced today.
"What an honor for Eliza and Amy," said head coach Derek Ellingson. "Those two were rocks for us in terms of what they did in the pool and out of it. It's a great to see Eliza finish her career with this selection while I'm sure it won't be the last for Amy."
This is Britt's first All-American honor. She was recently named Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) All-Conference Second Team and earned CWPA Championships All-Tournament Second Team honors. The senior captain posted 42 goals, 30 assists, 26 steals and 27 drawn ejections. Some of her top games include four goals vs. No. 19 San Jose State (Mar. 15) and consecutive hat tricks (Apr. 13-14). Britt graduates with 129 career goals, 110 assists, 109 steals and 52 drawn ejections.
This also Castellano's first All-American accolade. The junior had one of the greatest seasons in program history, securing CWPA All-Conference First Team and CWPA Championships All-Tournament First Team nominations. She led the team in goals (74), shots (130), shooting percentage (.569), steals (47), blocks (13) and sprint wins (18). Her 74 goals and 43 assists are the eighth best for a single-season in program history. Castellano scored a goal in 27 games and produced 21 multi-goal outings. Some of her signature moments including two streaks of four straight hat tricks (Feb. 9-22) (Mar. 2-15), a season-best six goals along with two helpers and four steals vs. Saint Francis (Apr. 6) and two goals and two assists vs. No. 6 Michigan (Apr. 28) in the CWPA Championship Game.
Princeton went 21-9 this season, reaching the CWPA Championship Game for the third straight season. The Tigers won eight games against nationally ranked foes, seven against schools from California and finished No. 15 in the final CWPA Varsity Poll.
