Princeton Football Welcomes 28 Members Of The Class 2023
June 26, 2019 | Football
The Princeton football team will welcome 28 new members in the Class of 2023, the Charles W. Caldwell Jr. Head Coach of Football Bob Surace announced.
The class consists of players from 14 states and the District of Columbia, with a high of five players each from California and New Jersey. There are 14 defensive players, 13 offensive players and one punter.
The team that these 28 players will join is coming off a 10-0 season and the program's second Ivy League championship in three years and third in six years. Every class from 2013 through 2022 will have won at least one Ivy title in their time at Princeton, and the classes of 2018 and 2019 won two.
Princeton will be celebrating the 150th anniversary of college football this season, including a Nov. 9 game at Yankee Stadium against Dartmouth in conjunction with the actual anniversary of Princeton's participation in the first game against Rutgers, back on Nov. 6, 1869.
"These are exciting times for Princeton football," Surace says. "We're thrilled to have these 28 young men joining our program. Our staff works really hard to identify players who we feel will fit in well with the values, traditions and expectations of Princeton football. We can't wait to get to work with this group."
