Daniels Runs Ivy League Record at NCAA Championships

Junior Joey Daniels ran an Ivy League record in the 110-meter hurdles at the 2019 NCAA Track & Field Championships with a 13.70!

Daniels made history as the first Tiger in Princeton history to reach the NCAA championships in the event. He is the fourth athlete in Ivy League history to reach the finals in the event and the first since 1960.

His time of 13.70 matches his lifetime best, which he ran at the Canadian Nationals last summer, this time putting up the lightning time in a Princeton singlet.

Daniels takes the Ivy League record from Cornell's Max Hairston who clocked a 13.74 in 2014.

The Princeton record holder in the event, Daniels is a two-time Ivy League champion and a three-time NCAA regional qualifier.

Overall Daniels finished 12th out of 24, three places out of making Friday's final.

Two weeks after running his best ever steeplechase, sophomore Ed Trippas wasn't able to repeat as he finished 11th in heat 1 with a 9:29.44.

The Ivy League steeplechase champion, entered championship weekend ranked fourth in the nation with the 8:33.90 – which won him the event at the NCAA East Regional. His time was a personal best, the second in Princeton history and third best in Ivy League history.

Another Tiger to keep an eye on in Austin, is Princeton alum William Paulson '18 who is finishing his eligibility at Arizona State.

Paulson won heat 1 of the 1500 to advance to Friday's final. Paulson compete at the NCAA Championships for Princeton in the 1500 in both 2017 and 2018. Last year he was 13th to earn second-team All-America honors coming off of an Ivy League title in the event. He was the league's runner-up in the 1500 in 2017 and was 24th at the NCAAs to earn honorable mention All-America honors.
