Monday Football Update - Davidson Named GPT Athlete Of The Week As He Leads FCS

When you complete 18 of 21 passes in your season-opener, you're likely to find yourself where Kevin Davidson does now - atop the national leaders in a several statistical categories.
Davidson, Princeton's senior quarterback, was nearly flawless in Princeton's 49-7 win over Butler Saturday night. Making his second career start, Davidson threw for 341 yards and two touchdowns, with no interceptions and only those three incompletions. HIs performance earned him GoPrincetonTigers.Com Athlete of the Week honors, presented by Coach USA.
As a result of his big night, Davidson finds himself ranked No. 1 in the FCS in three pretty good places to be No. 1 - completion percentage (85.7), passing efficiency rating (253.5), average yards per attempt (16.24).
The completion percentage was the sixth-best single-game total in program history for a quarterback with at least 15 attempts in a game. The average yards per completion are nearly five better than second-place Chris Oladokun of Samford.
In other Princeton football news, Delan Stallworth had a team-best eight tackles and an interception in the game. He is one of six players in the FCS who are averaging 1.0 interceptions per game, and his 7.0 solo tackles per game rank fifth in the country.
As a team, Princeton put up 553 yards of offense, which leads the FCS. Of those 553 yards, a total of 441 came in the first half. Princeton also leads the FCS in scoring offense at 49.0, of which 42 came in the first half as well.
Davidson, Stallworth and placekicker Tavish Rice, who made all seven of his extra points and was 8 for 8 on touchbacks on kickoffs, were named to the Ivy League honor roll. Davidson was also named one of five FCS honorable mention selections for the College Football Performance Awards Player of the Week.
Princeton is now ranked 24th in the FCS in the AFCA weekly poll and is 26th, the first team in "others receiving votes," in the STATS FCS poll.
