Through The Eyes: Amir Bell Clinches The Outright Ivy Title
December 03, 2020 | Men's Basketball
PRINCETON, N.J. – In front of an ESPNU audience, Amir Bell's drive and bank off the glass with 1.1 seconds left was the last bucket the Princeton University men's basketball team needed in a 73-69 win over Harvard University inside Jadwin Gymnasium.
With the win, the Tigers stood at 13-0 in the Ivy League and 20-6 overall with 16 consecutive wins, an outright Ivy League title and a top seed in the Ivy League Tournament all wrapped up.
Princeton entered the final minute of the game tied 69-69 and gained possession off a Harvard turnover, the 17th of 18 the Crimson committed on the night, with 48 seconds to go. A Spencer Weisz three rattled out, but Myles Stephens grabbed the rebound and Bell worked the clock down to five seconds before beginning his drive toward the basket from beyond the arc, banking it high off the glass and in for a 71-69 lead with 1.1 seconds to go.
