PRINCETON, N.J. –The distinguished 2020 Class of Legends of Ivy League Basketball was announced today with the Princeton representatives set as Ellen DeVoe '86 and Brian Taylor '72.
Â
A four-time All-Ivy performer, DeVoe graduated second all-time in points (1,290). One of the great scorers in Princeton history, her 430 points during the 1983-84 season was at the time, the best ever. DeVoe currently sits second in program history in rebounds (942), rebounding average (9.7), blocks (157), tied for third in double-doubles (23), sixth in field. She also holds the single-game record for blocks in a game with nine.
Â
A two-time All-American, Taylor was a second-round draft choice of the Seattle Supersonics in the 1972 NBA draft and went on to have a 10-year career in the NBA and ABA where he was named first team All-Defense on three occasions. He is a member of the 1,000-point club at Princeton with 1,239 points in his career and majored in politics.
Â
This year's Legends class includes five Ivy League Rookies of the Year, four Ivy League Players or Defensive Players of the Year and nine 1,000-point scorers. It also features an Olympian, the sitting governor of the state of Massachusetts and the current president of Colby-Sawyer College. On the court and in the classroom, this year's class combined for 30 All-Ivy (16 First Team, 14 Second Team) and four Academic All-Ivy nods.
Â
Each Ivy League institution is represented by one male and one female honoree, as selected by their university athletic department.
Â
"The members of the 2020 Legends of Ivy League Basketball class exemplify the unrivaled experience that our student-athletes receive," said Executive Director Robin Harris. "These distinguished individuals have accomplished much—on the court, in the classroom and in life—and we look forward to celebrating them at Ivy Madness in March."
Â
Each legend will be formally honored at the 2020 Ivy League Men's and Women's Basketball Tournaments on Saturday, March 14, at Lavietes Pavilion in Cambridge, Mass. A variety of ticket offerings are on sale now via IvyMadness.com.
