Weekend Look-Back: No. 5 Princeton Reaches 20 Wins in Final Regular-Season Road Trip
February 16, 2020 | Women's Ice Hockey
The ECAC Hockey League's southernmost team visited its northernmost teams over the weekend, with fifth-ranked Princeton getting a victory at St. Lawrence to clinch first-round home ice in the ECAC Hockey Championship and reach 20 wins for the seventh time in program history, all in the last 18 seasons.
Princeton will enter the final weekend of the regular season, Friday at 6 at Baker Rink against Brown and Saturday at 3 at home against Yale, just two wins short of the program wins record. One more win would tie this year's Tigers with the 2005-06 team with 21 wins, second-most in program history, and a sweep would tie the current Tigers with the 2015-16 team's record of 22 wins.
A pair of seniors climbed in the program's career stats rankings over the weekend. Carly Bullock's goal and assist at St. Lawrence moved her to 143 career points, good for 10th in program history and four back of Alison Coughlin '99 for ninth (147). Bullock's goal gave her 86 for her career, moving her within one of a tie for sixth in program history alongside Gretchen Anderson '04 (87).
Stephanie Neatby won her 39th career game at St. Lawrence, moving her two closer to the fourth-most in program history, held by Roxanne Gaudiel '06 (41). The 4-0 shutout win was the 12th of her career, tying her with Gaudiel for fourth-most all-time and just two back of the record co-held by Kristen Young '09 and Rachel Weber '12. Her 16 saves against the Saints moved her past Weber into fifth place in program history, now with 1,798 and 111 back of fourth-place Young (1,909).
Sophomore Sarah Fillier achieved her 100th career point with a goal at St. Lawrence. Sixty-two of those points have come from assists, and Fillier is two back of Gina Pietrangelo '87 for 12th on the program list for career helpers. Fillier is on pace to threaten the program's career assist record over four seasons, held by Katherine Issel '95 at 122. Fillier's 27 assists this season have her within one of making a second entry in the program's top 10 along with her 35 helpers from last season.
Four players scored Princeton's five goals on the weekend, with rookie Annie Kuehl scoring in both games. Leading Princeton's rookies in scoring this season with seven goals and six assists, Kuehl scored in back-to-back games for the second time this season along with a two-goal game on Dec. 15 against Ohio State followed by a goal on Jan. 3 against Saint Anselm.
