No. 15 Princeton Finishes With Two Contests at ASU Challenge

TEMPE, Ariz. – The No. 15 Princeton Tigers dropped both contests today to finish the Arizona State Challenge at the Mona Plummer Aquatic Center on Sunday.
Princeton fell in its first contest vs. No. 3 Hawaii Rainbow Wahine, 16-3 before a 9-5 loss to the host Sun Devils.
No. 3 Hawaii 16, No. 15 Princeton 3
The Wahine began with the first two goals before Margarita Orlova got Princeton on the board. Head coach Derek Ellingson's team trailed by just two, 3-1, after eight minutes. Hawaii registered 10 goals over the next two frames before taking the contest. Orlova scored twice while Larkin tacked on the other goal for Princeton.
No. 10 Arizona State 9, No. 15 Princeton 5
The Tigers started with a 2-1 lead with goals from Amy Castellano and Nicole Kresich before the host squad countered with three straight tallies, taking a 4-2 advantage with 5:53 left in the first half. Larkin broke up the Sun Devils' run before two more goals from the home unit set the halftime score at 6-3.
Princeton and Arizona State each added two goals in the third frame with the Sun Devils taking an 8-5 advantage into the final quarter. The Tigers were held scoreless over the final eight minutes as Arizona State took the meeting, 9-5.
The Tigers will now take a week off before hosting the Princeton Invitational Feb.15-16.
