The Series With Virginia
An evenly-matched all-time series sees Virginia own a slight 20-18 edge as the teams convene for the 39th time. The two teams have split the last four meetings, with Princeton winning in 2016 and 2017 before UVA claimed the last two.
Last year, the Cavaliers scored the game's final five goals to break a 9-9 tie and pick up a 14-9 victory in Charlottesville. Kyla Sears has two goals for Princeton.
Tigers Take Season Opener At Temple
It wasn't pretty, but Princeton snagged a win to open 2020 with a 16-14 victory at Temple last weekend. Trailing by one with under 9:00 to play, Princeton scored four of the game's final five goals to gut out the win. Kyla Sears had seven points, scoring four times and adding three assists. Freshman Kari Buonnano had four goals and an assist in her collegiate debut.
Newcomers Make Noise
Of Princeton's 16 goals in the opener at Temple, nine came off the sticks of players making their collegiate debuts. In addition to Buonnano's four goals, fellow freshman Grace Tauckus had two. Sophomore Kate Mulham had a hat trick after missing all of 2019 with an injury. The newcomers made an impact all over the field as freshman Katherine McIntire won three draw controls.
Firing Home The Freebies
The difference in the win over the Owls was performance on free position attempts. Princeton was 7-for-11 on eight-meter shots while Temple was 1-for-8.
Climbing The Ranks
A talented group on the field and deep postseason runs each season have multiple Tigers in range of making serious moves up the Princeton Record Book:
Tess D'Orsi
No. 6 all-time in goals (144); 17 away from tying for No. 5
No. 10 all-time in points (187); 13 away from tying for No. 9
Kyla Sears
No. 7 all-time in assists (62); 6 away from tying for No. 6
No. 11 all-time in points (185); 2 away from tying for No. 10
Sam Fish
No. 9 all-time in saves (349); 84 away from tying for No. 8
