No. 23 Princeton Rolls To 16th Straight Victory

PRINCETON, N.J. – The top scoring defense shined as the No. 23 Princeton Tigers collected their 16th straight victory, 66-45, over the Harvard Crimson at Jadwin Gym on Friday evening.

Bella Alarie registered a game-high 18 points on 8-of-13 shooting, adding six rebounds, two steals and a block. Taylor Baur snagged 11 points along with seven caroms. Princeton's 10 blocks were a season best. The Tigers also had 11 steals and dished out 18 helpers on 23 made baskets.

Harvard registered just three buckets in the first quarter and trailed 17-7 after 10 minutes. Princeton ran off seven straight to begin the second quarter, setting the score at 24-7 at the 6:37 mark. The Crimson got within eight, but Princeton went into the break with a 33-21 advantage.

Carla Berube's unit did not let Harvard within single digits the rest of the contest. The Crimson finished 17-of-64 from the floor (26.6 percent). Harvard's 26.6 percent shooting was its worst percentage of the year while its 17 baskets were tied for second lowest. Lola Mullaney came into the contest averaging 15.3 points per game, but had seven points on 2-of-14 shooting.

With the win, Princeton improved to 20-1 overall and 8-0 in the Ivy League. Harvard fell to 14-8 this season and 5-4 in the conference. The Tigers finish the weekend with a contest vs. Dartmouth tomorrow. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
