February 22, 2020 | Women's Basketball
PRINCETON, N.J. – The No. 23 Princeton Tigers recorded an impressive 53-point second half in an 87-55 take down over the Dartmouth Big Green at Jadwin Gym on Saturday evening.
Bella Alarie registered her 39th career double-double, snagging 26 points, 12 rebounds along with two assists and two steals. Grace Stone matched her personal best with 16 points while Abby Meyers (10) was also in double figures.
Dartmouth led for the entire first quarter until Alarie's layup with 19 seconds left tied the contest at 16-all. The second frame was another close affair as the biggest lead was four points. The home squad held a 34-32 advantage after 20 minutes.
Dartmouth's Paula Lenart's jumper 34 seconds into the third frame cut Princeton's lead to two, 36-34.
The Big Green would score just one more basket over the next eight minutes.
The Tigers, on the other hand, scored a little more.
25 points more to be exact.
Head coach Carla Berube's squad shot a ridiculous 73.3 percent in the third stanza and hit four of its five three-point attempts, stretching its lead to 22, 65-43, following three quarters.
Dartmouth never made it a game after that.
Almost half of the Tigers' points (42) came in the paint. Princeton registered 22 points off of 20 Dartmouth turnovers.
Princeton's winning streak is now at 17. The Tigers are 21-1 overall and 9-0 in the Ivy League. Dartmouth dropped to 8-15 and 2-8 in conference action. Berube's unit welcomes Penn to Jadwin Gym on Tuesday. Tip-off is at 7 p.m.
