CARY, N.J. – The Princeton Tigers dropped two contests to the Penn State Nittany Lions at the U.S. Baseball Complex on Saturday.

Penn State 4, Princeton 3 – Game 1
The Nittany Lions opened up the scoring with a two-run first frame highlighted by a fielding error and RBI groundout.

Penn State put two runners in scoring position int the bottom of the fourth, but James Proctor picked up the strikeout. In the next half frame, Sy Snedeker blasted a three-run four bagger to right field to put Princeton ahead, 3-2.

The Tigers were looking for an insurance run in the sixth when Jake Boone led off with a single before moving to second base on a failed pick-off throw. He was left stranded as the Lions got three punch outs to avoid damage.

A fielding error tied the game in the bottom of the sixth. Princeton's best chance in extra innings saw Taylor Beckett get to second base, but the Tigers couldn't bring him home. Gavin Homer's walk-off single in the 10th gave Penn State the victory.

Snedeker's home run was the second of his career. Proctor and Connor Udell combined to strike out 13 hitters.

The Lions began the contest with a seven-run frame that featured four walks and four hits. They later added a run in the second before a five-spot in the fifth.

Princeton's lone run came in the third stanza on an RBI double by Noah Granet. Caden MacDonald punched out three batters in three innings of relief work. Jake Boone had two hits in the loss.

These two squads wrap up the series tomorrow. First pitch is set for 11 a.m.
